3 Benefits of having a 'path'
I grew up in a fundamental religion and never thought I would commit myself to another path. But something resonated for me early on, like a tuning fork picking up on a resonant field in alert vibration. And I picked up the ceremonial swing of things like a duck to water. Perhaps I'd been here before...
Two messages were reinforced to me early on as I started exploring the Sweet Medicine SunDance path.
Firstly, "Don't believe anything we say. Test it for yourself and see if it grows 'corn'."
And, "It is wise to have at least 3 paths that you are dedicated to for your personal and spiritual growth."
This was wild and refreshing to me!
I'd like to go on and share with you some of my personal reflections on what I've gained by having found one of my paths.
1 - A Well Trodden Path
There are specific ways of doing ceremony in this tradition that give me access to connect with the spiritual realm in a powerful way. The elders of this lineage found pathways for connection and over thousands of years of traversing spiritual journeys these pathways are now well trodden highways that are well protected. In ceremony and life as ceremony, my prayers are powerful, mystical experiences abound and medicine signs present frequently showing me what's unfolding in my personal evolution.
2 - Community
As I move through the incredible teachings and ceremonial experiences with my fellow students, we bear witness to each other's journey, we gain a shared language and conceptual understanding to have deep conversations about our 'waking dream' life that replaces aloneness with side-by-side-ness. I have made long lasting friendships here that hold a high vibration of respect, autonomy, belief and acceptance.
3 - Finding my True Self
Finding a path that resonates for me has become a supportive vehicle for my evolution. The shedding of programming and limitations to step into more of my naturalness and expression in the world. My life purpose has become clearer and the weight of resistance to forward movement has dropped. I know more of what is mine to do and I'm doing it.
When I think about my journey in this path, memories come to mind that bring a smile to my face; memories of the chords of my heart being plucked to a beautiful song from ancient times and the origin of the cosmos. I know I've been here before and I'm so glad I'm back.
